Jackson's speech appt.

So we had Jackson's appt. and I'm not sure if they will qualify him or not. His speech has come leaps and bounds from last year, but there is still some stuff that he needs to work on. The speech therapist didn't want to put him into the special needs preschool program because he is needing some normal children to role model after. In that class, he would be the role model. So she highly recommended me getting him into a preschool program (away from Trevor) and to work with him here at home using flash cards and stuff... oh and READ, READ, READ. We do a lot of that anyway. Jackson does great on the single word level, but when he tries to voice a thought or a phrase, he ends up dropping the endings of the words and jumbling everything together. Sometimes he even ends up resorting to baby gibberish. She thinks this might be a slight sensory issue, along with some delay from him being a preemie. But he is still really close to his age group. The therapist thinks he needs peer pressure to get him to talk clearly. So we are on a waiting list for the local preschool, and until then, we will just continue to work with him at home. That kid can't get enough of books anyway. We've been trying to get to the library a couple times a week just to keep him entertained with new books. Anyway, I'm much more relieved than I was before, and now this situation doesn't feel so overwhelming and unreachable.
